How to Fill a Gift Bag

Instructions on How to Fill a Gift Bag with Gifts

The “Celebrate The Child” project helps bring a smile to children ages 3 through 15.


How to fill a gift bag:

1. Purchase a medium size gift bag approximately 12″ x 10″ wide is an ideal size of a gift bag.

2. Decide whether your gift will be for a Boy or Girl.

3. The decide their age category (3-5), (6-8), (9-11), or (12-15).

4. Fill the gift bag with a variety of gifts. Listed below is a suggested list of items you can purchase as well as items to avoid. Remember to use good judgment when selecting the gifts and have fun filling the gifts bags!!!

5. Next, use the appropriate Boy/Girl label. Please feel free to printout and complete a Boy/Girl label by using this link: Printable Boy/Girl Labels can be found here

6. Mark the age category you have purchased the items for.

7. Then tape the label to the handles of the gift bag.

8. Then call one of our Collection Centers to drop off the gift bags. Click on the link for either Ohio or Kentucky.

9. Then enjoy the holiday and make sure you check back to our website after the holidays for the latest news and festive photos!

Suggested items you can purchase:

Toys: small cars, balls, stuffed animals, dolls, plastic kazoos, yo-yo’s, small Etch A Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (don’t forget the batteries if so needed), etc.

School Supplies: pens, pencils, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, sticker books, coloring books, writing pad, solar calculators, etc.

Hygiene items: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, brushes, washcloths, etc.

Other: sunglasses, flashlights with batteries, ball caps, socks, hair-clips, etc.


Do NOT include the following items:
* Breakable items (mirrors, china dolls, etc.)
* Hard candy, lollipops, mints or gum
* Toy guns, knives, or other war-related items
* Chocolate or perishable items
* Money
* Used items
* Medicines of any kind (vitamins, cough drops, etc.)
